Korbin Jackson Wade

My childhood friend Vanessa had her second baby today

Korbin Jackson Wade
born at 11:39am (PST).
He weighed 8lbs 5oz and is 21" long.

Vanessa did great and was only in labor for about 14 hours after being induced last night around 10pm. Korbin was born on Tamsen and Todd's wedding anniversary! Korbin's big sister, Liliana, is about 21 months old and her birthday is on the same day as my parents wedding anniversary! What are the chances!?!? :)
Congrats Vanessa, Adam, and Liliana! Welcome Korbin to the world!
I can't wait to meet you!!!

It's Up!

I bought Nick his TV over a year and a half ago. We never bought a wall mount for it because at the time the cheapest we found was a little over $100. I couldn't justify spending that when we had a perfectly good tv stand that it could stand on.

Recently I started looking on Craigslist and Ksl.com to see if there were any wall mounts for sale for under $20. I happened upon an ad that didn't have a price. When i called the guy, he told me that he bought it almost 2 years ago but never got around to putting it up and now is moving and doesn't want to take it with him. If I could be there in 20 min I could have it for free! I sent Nick to get it--he drives faster than me and he could make sure it had all the parts and would work for our TV. We got it!

I helped Nick over the weekend hang it on our wall. It was a lot easier that I thought it would be, but it still makes me nervous to have my TV just hanging... Nick is SO happy...lol...He's like a little kid when he gets something new. so cute!

This is the end result...but next week Nick is going to drill holes in the wall behind the TV and again behind the TV stant to feed the wires through so they will be hidden from view...yay! I love it!

Temple trip

As part of the "Liahona program" my mom set up this year, the grand kids all came to the Mt. Timpanogas Temple to learn about temples. It was so cute seeing them all dressed up in their best clothes and listening intently to mom and dad as they taught them. Cooper and Preston had a hard time holding still for very long, (mainly Preston), but over all they did very good!

The boys getting distracted....
Then we took the kids inside the temple to the waiting room and a temple worker came and talked to the kids more about the temple. I have never seen Preston and cooper sit so quietly and still...it was really impressive!
Then we took the kids back outside again to see all the flowers and we walked all around the temple.

Then we went to a covered area at the nearby church and the kids ate a treat and got to play a little and then each person recorded a little message that will be showed at our upcoming reunion. The kids all had a lot of fun and so did I.

by Andy Rooney CBS 60 Minutes.

(I stole this from Julie (Arah's sisters) blog)....thanks!!! ;-) ...and for those who are turning 30 Andy Rooney says: As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, "What are you thinking?". She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting.

A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom.
Few women past the age of 30 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women.
Women over 30 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.
Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

I liked this...especially since I am only 8 months away from turning 30!

A sleepover and the Mat

Ashleigh's cousin Teriesa came over for a sleepover the other night. They only got to play at our house for a little while before we left to go to The Mat in Provo (Juli's laundromat). Nick's Aunt Lori and cousins-Natalie and Mandie were in town visiting and we haven't seen them in over 2 years so we really wanted to go visit! The kids had a LOT of fun running around and around and around the Mat...it totally wore them out and they slept great that night!
Here are some random pictures I took!

amazing....people are crazy

I have a work story for you.

At about 130am, 2 guys came to my register and asked to buy some Cigarettes (Camel Lights). I asked for both ID's. (They looked to be with in about 5 years in age of each other) The 1st guys said he had his, but (pointing to his "friend") he doesn't have his, he's underage. I said, well I can't sell them to you then...
Him: Are you serious?
Me: Ya, sorry!
Him: ok, well what if he leaves? (the friend starts backing up)
Me: Nope, sorry, I already know he is with you, so even if he left I couldn't sell it to you.
Him: What if I leave and then come back?
Me: Sorry! I would still know its you and this same situation still applies. (or something like that)
Him: (rolls his eyes, gets very irritated) Fine! (and walks away!)

Then at about 215am this guy comes back--alone--and asks me for cigarettes (Camel Lights). I stood my ground!
Me: Nope, sorry, I can't sell them to you!
Him: you have got to be kidding me! (VERY upset now!) Why not? I took my little brother home and now I'm back, alone. You are supposed to sell me the cigarettes now!
Me: I am not going to sell them to you, but I can get my manager for you and you can see if he will sell them to you?
Him: Ya, why don't you do that! (Teeth clenched together, arms folded and walks a little bit away from me)

I call my manager--he comes up and they talk-I only hear bits and pieces

Another customer came up at the same time as they were talking. He asks for cigarettes (Grand Prix) I get his ID-it's fine, I sell them to him. He also overhears the conversation between my manager and the other customer--he seems humored by it.

My manager backs me up and tells the guy we won't be selling him the cigarettes. The man, pissed off, begins walking out of the store...he falls in line with my 2nd customer who bought the Grand Prix cigarettes...they talk for a second and then I see the guy who bought the Grand Prix's coming back. My manager was gone by now, but 2 of my co-workers were there--Alma and Glenise. I told them quickly that if the Grand Prix guy tries to buy Camel Lights I won't sell them to him! They agreed.

The Grand Prix guy comes back up to me and says: I need to buy another pack of cigarettes.
Me: Don't tell me you are going to try to buy cigarettes for that guy are you?
Him: Uh, no, I'm buying them for my friend (Thats a big NO-NO). I need a pack of Camel Lights!

Ding ding ding ding ding...we've got an idiot amongst us!
Johnny tell him what he's won!?!
NOTHING!
And that's exactly what he got!
NOTHING!

Me: Are you serious? You're really trying to buy Camel Lights? That's the same kinds the other guy wanted to buy and I just saw you talking to him! I am not going to sell them to you!
Him: Why not? It's not for that guy, it's just for my friend.
Me: Because, the fact that you are buying the cigarettes for anyone other than you means it's a 3rd-party sale and that's against the law! There is no way I am going to sell them to you. You are welcome to go to one of the many gas stations around here still open and buy what you want from them! But you are not going to get your cigarettes from here!
Him: (I can't remember exactly what he said, but he was pissed, and started spouting off insults and criticisms to me and to my co-workers as he was walking away!)

On my way out, after work the door greeter told me that the Camel Lights guy DID ask the Grand Prix to go back and buy him his cigarettes! Duh, like I didn't already know that!

This incident, along with another one (a co-worker is trying to get me fired, but she didn't show up for work last night...and I found out she was arrested for assault in the city she used to live in) made me decide it would be best to have a manager walk me out to my car after work! Thankfully, my car was still intact and my tires still had air in them, and no one was in the parking lot to "get me", so I was safe!

Just chalk it up to another crazy adrenaline rushed night at work! :-) I love my job! Ha Ha

Let the potty training BEGIN...and other tidbits

It's funny, yesterday I was thinking that not much new is going on it our lives. We work, we sleep, we clean, we play, etc...and not much else. I was actually thinking that Nick and I are pretty boring people... But then....

Last night after I gave Preston a bath I asked him if he wanted to go potty on the toilet. He said YES! He was really excited! With in a few minutes he had peed in the toilet (so he got some chocolate balls (Whoppers) which are his favorite candy). Then about thirty min later he wanted to try to go on the toilet again. After getting on and off a few times, and figuring out how to "push", he finally pooped in the toilet too! (He got a LOT of Chocolate balls after that!) We all did a little happy dance, gave him high-5's and cheered. He was so proud of himself and so are we!

Then I had to go to work--where lots of "exciting" stuff is going on. It looked like I was going to lose my job, but then more information came out about another associate (Who was trying to get me fired) and now my job is probably 95% safe...and hers is getting very close to ending! They are doing an investigation right now so I won't be able to give details until it's all over and done with! but I spent 4 hours of my 5 hour shift in my store managers office talking and writing out my statement! Pfew!

Today, I slept in a little too long and Preston used his diaper instead of the toilet, but once that diaper was changed, I put him in underwear and he has been that way all day! Preston will go pee in the toilet with No prodding, but he is still letting it go whenever he wants like when he had a diaper on, so we've had 3 pee accidents so far today. Normally, I would put him back in a diaper and say "screw it", but I decided against it and am just trying to keep him on an every 30 min schedule of trying to go on the toilet. It's really exciting to think that by the end of July I will hopefully have a fully potty trained little boy--all before he turns 3! Yay!

And, the Orkin guy came out today to check the mouse traps, etc...our official count is 6 mice, not 4 like I originally thought! there were 2 more in the trap in the garage--they were not there last week when nick checked the traps!

And finally, I decided it was time for me to be brave and so I made brownies, arranged them on a plate, and made a little note attached that said something like--Welcome!! Please let me know if you ever need anything or if I can help out in any way! Then I wrote all of our names (and the kids' ages) and our phone number. I took it over to my new neighbors. They are busily unloading boxes, etc...probably wasn't the best time to bring them treats and introduce myself, but oh-well. the neighbor mom-Jessica and I chatted for a minute--her husband swooped in and took the brownies--his personality reminds me of Nick's. They have a son-Bentley who is almost 4. And she told me how fun it's been to have Ashleigh come and say hi to them every time they come home (since Ash is out playing constantly, she sees them more than I do.) I didn't catch the husbands name, but Ashleigh tells me his name is Braeden... They seem like really nice people!! I hope that that really is in fact the case as we get to know each other more as neighbors.

Now, Ash, her friend Haylie, and Preston are playing in our sprinklers out front. It's almost 100 degrees here so I thought they could use a little cooling off! Plus, Preston can pee out there and I will never know! Lol.... (He already figured out how to pull his underwear down and pee outside! that's Nick's boy! Ha ha ha!)
