Frontrunner

Cooper came over on Wednesday (March 23) to play with Preston and have a sleepover. Occasionally I make spur of the moment plans and this was one of those days!

I decided that as soon as Ashleigh got home from school we would all go up to Salt Lake to ride the Frontrunner train. It starts in Salt Lake and goes North all the way up to Ogden. We decided to ride it up to Layton and meet Ryan, Talon, and Tage there and have dinner with them!

Before we left, Preston and Cooper having some Cantaloupe.

One of the Frontrunner trains--they are double-deckers! Very cool!

We had a little trouble trying to buy our ticket from the kiosk--the touch screen didn't work on one of them, and the other one was out of order. We got some help from one of the UTA workers who was VERY nice and suggested to me that the best seats on the train are on the upper level.

We had about a 30 min wait so we could get to Layton at the time I told Ryan so this train wasn't ours. We had to wait for the next one. The kids were in awe over the size of the train and they were all so excited to ride it! Preston and Cooper LOVE and are obsessed with trains (Preston says he wants to be a conductor when he turns 7), so this was a perfect outing for them!

Finally our train arrived and we loaded up! We spread out at first, but the train got full so we ended up all together. The kids fought over who got the window seats...they rotated thru out the ride so they each got turns.

hee hee...Ashleigh's funny face!

We had a great view from the train and it was fun to race the cars on the freeway.

We had a stop in Woods Cross and in Farmington and then finally in Layton. The whole ride there was about 26 min.

We took a picture by the buffalo statue at the Layton station.

And posed by the fence while we waited for Ryan.

Ryan picked us up and we headed to IHOP for dinner. YUM!

I tried to get some group pics. Not bad, considering I was holding the camera myself! lol...

We had a yummy dinner and the kids were overall pretty good! :-) THANKS RYAN!!

Then we headed back to the train and made it with about 5 min to spare. We said our good-bye's and hopped back on. It was just after 7pm when we got on the train and it was basically empty! Only one other passenger was upstairs with us, and she got off at the very next stop.

The kids took advantage and sprawled out across the seats. They were pretty tired, I could tell...

It was a fun fun fun afternoon and I'm really glad I decided to take the kids on the train. I may try to do it one more time before we move. :-)

This was a GREAT post, Megan. Have you notice how all three of those 4-5 year olds look so much alike? Love you!
