Couponing...my first real experience!

Nick's sister Betsie is in town for a few weeks.
Since she moved to Tennessee she has started couponing with some friends there. They save so much money each month, it's amazing! She's given me good advice over the phone, but I always felt like I was missing something...and not getting as good a deal as she was getting. So last night I tagged along as she and Juli went to Walgreens to do some shopping.

I bought 4 boxes of cereal (separate transaction), 6 tubes of L'Oreal Mascara, lots of other L'Oreal makeup and some Revlon makeup, some diapers, a spray bottle-not on sale, and some hairspray.

Total-my bill should have been $172 (both transactions), but after in store sales, register rewards, the easy saver book and all my coupons, I paid only $43 out of pocket...and I get a little back in rebates!

What do you think? Pretty good, huh? I still feel like I have a lot to learn, but I am excited about my first REAL couponing adventure! :)

This is a picture of one of my receipts!

Here is all the stuff I bought!

As part of the teaching process I learned that I was doing the coupons all wrong...so Betsie taught me the right way and I enlisted Nick's help last night. He's a great sorter. ;-)

We still have a lot more to do, but It's looking great so far...I am SO excited to be able to save like Betsie and her friends do! Yipee!

Wow. That's amazing!

Just wondering--what are you going to do with 6 tubes of mascara? Do you really go through it that fast?

I go through 1 in about 2 months...so I have a years worth. The point is to get free or nearly free things--even if you don't use it, to put in storage...or DONATE to charities or shelters! It's quite a rush...so much fun!

Okay, well, if you ever feel like donating some mascara to your sister, I'll be out in about a month... :)

You know you're going to have to teach me all this now.

Since I'm getting so much stuff for free, anytime I have extras, I'd be happy to give some to you...just let me know, when you see the pictures-what you want, ok? :)

Do you want waterproof mascara or not?
